In an iconic city, quintessential postcodes are the perhaps the safest property bet, albeit some of the priciest.
Domain Group data shows Melbourne’s well-known suburbs in the leafy inner east, bayside and the hipster north are the first on both buyers’ and renters’ lists when looking for a new home.

The 20 most searched suburbs in Victoria in March on Domain.com.au were Melbourne stalwarts, rich with transport options, cafe strips and schools — and in many cases, their own football teams.
Every suburb with an eponymous AFL team made the top 20 most searched suburbs for buys or renters.
Melbourne CBD and Brunswick ranked number one and two respectively on the most searched suburbs for both buying and renting.
