Keilor East is located 16 km north-west of the Melbourne CBD within the municipalities of Brimbank and Moonee Valley. This area grew rapidly in the 1970s and 1980s, with further growth with the Valley Lake development on the former Niddrie Quarry site.
The Maribyrnong River lies to the west of Keilor East and is a popular spot for picnics and trail walking. Other local attractions include Valley Lake, Rose Hill Park, AJ Davis Reserve and Rose Creek Estate. The Organ Pipes National Park is a short drive away on the Calder Freeway, as is the Calder Park Raceway.
Shopping options include the Centreway and Milleara Shopping Centre, whilst schools include Penleigh & Essendon Grammar School and several others.
A central position means residents have easy access to the Calder Freeway, Tullamarine Freeway and the Western Ring Road. Several bus routes also service the area and a proposed railway station to join the Albion-Jacana line will join Keilor East with Albion and Sunshine.
